CustomCabinetSoftware.com -- Software for Design and CNC
CustomCabinetSoftware.com offers custom cabinet design software with and without CNC capability. You'll also find CNC capable countertop design software, MDF door software, software for designing and cutting dovetail drawers on a flat panel CNC router, and even software for designing and machining face frames on a CNC machine.

Last but not least, you can check out Cabinet Solutions which is a complete cabinet design program with 3D renderings, a cut list, and job costing all built in. Cabinet Solutions does not have CNC capability at this time, but has a very short learning curve and is a good start for many cabinet shops.

All the software I spoke of can be evaluated or purchased at http://www.customcabinetsoftware.com/

  PRO100 Design Software

PRO100 is a versatile and relatively new design program. It gives you part-level control when creating objects. What that means is you take a part, make it a certain size, shape it, and put it together with other parts until you have the object you wanted to create.

Besides part-level control, another hot feature in PRO100 is the ability to texture objects using JPG files. That means you can take images from the internet, a digital camera, or anything you can, and bring them into PRO100 to texture a surface. Things that should be going through your head right now are countertop textures, wood grains, floor tile, and anything else you'd want to import.

Visit http://www.pro100usa.com/ for a demonstration video, free trial, and lots of product information. The program is used by custom cabinet makers, kitchen dealers, remodelers, closet designers, and tile specialists to name a few.

  iCAM CNC Routing Machines

I ran across an article on nested based manufacturing on the website of iCAM Mechatronics, a company that claims to be "the premier manufacturer of CNC Routing Machines in New Zealand."

I personally know nothing about this company, but can say that the design of their website is testament to that statement. If nothing else, click the above link for an article that I think is a good read on the subject of nested based manufacturing.

Build your own CNC Routers & Plasma Cutters for Wood & Metal. Get started for $70.

You'd be amazed at what you can find on the internet. If you want to move to CNC and are the adventurous type, you may be able to save some money by building your own machine.

Machine Tool Camp will actually sell you all of the necessary instructions to do just that. Check them out and let us know what you think.

  Spacemaker CNC Router

If you've been holding back jumping on the CNC bandwagon due to a lack of space, check out this solution from FMTMachinery. They've developed a CNC Router called the Spacemaker that has a bed that sits at an angle (almost vertical), and can actually fit through a standard 3' x 6'8" (0.9m x 2m) doorway without having to disassemble the machine.

  PRACTICAL CNC

Hello again,

I was browsing the internet, like I do for hours a day, and ran across a new small CNC Router manufacturer that I think deserves to be mentioned in the ZDTime Blog. The company's name is Practical CNC. Their machines seem comparable in price and function to small machines from ShopBot, Shop Sabre, and others of the like.

For those of you thinking of venturing into the world of CNC automation, these guys deserve a look.
